OnSite Services - Flow Surveys - ADFM - Acoustic Doppler Flow Meter
In a nutshell…
- Unlike standard flow monitors, the ADFM Velocity Profiler can be used in variable hydraulic conditions
- Accurate measurement of flows in large and medium diameter pipes can be obtained
- Slow, almost stagnant velocities can be measured accurately
- Self-calibration - no requirement for regular visits to check site calibration
- Suitable for temporary or permanent installations
- Low power requirement - can be located remotely
- Certified for use in sewers and other confined spaces
- Using telemetry, survey data can be linked to a central data management group
Overview
The ADFM Velocity Profiler is able to accurately measure flow rate in harsh environments and under difficult conditions. It does this by measuring a velocity profile…the distribution of velocities throughout the flow. Measuring the distribution of velocities allows the ADFM to determine the actual hydraulic conditions. Using ADFM removes the necessity for site-specific calibrations and the need to choose 'ideal' monitor location sites.
ADFM accurately measures velocity at many points in the depth of flow. The velocity data points are used to determine the velocity distribution, or flow pattern, throughout the entire depth of flow. This pattern is integrated over the cross section of the flow to accurately determine the flow rate.
ADFM can be installed in sites which are less than hydraulically ideal, and no in-situ calibration is required to ensure the acquisition of accurate flow data. Backwater, surcharging, variable flow conditions, varying roughness coefficient or effects from physical influences such as pipe bends or intercepting flows, do not affect the accuracy of the ADFM flow measurements.
