Whether it is flood defence, spillage containment or the need for a cofferdam to create a watertight enclosure and 'dry' working area for maintenance and inspection works on structures within bodies of water - simplicity is the key to effectiveness.

OnSite offers several alternative temporary dam systems that provide cost-effective and environmentally friendly solutions to temporary water control, as an alternative to the costly, labour intensive and potentially intrusive traditional systems e.g. earthen dams, sandbags or sheet piling.

The primary water barrier systems for marine and aquatic environments offered by OnSite and installed as safe workable solutions are:

  • Portadam (simple and effective dam comprising of metal frames and a vinyl membrane)
  • Inflatable dams (sometimes referred to as 'sausage dams', water filled dams, water inflated dams)

We also offer bespoke systems and are always actively seeking new and innovative methods for controlling water courses.

By liaising and working in conjunction with our clients, conducting in depth surveys and sharing our experience, understanding and expertisewe are able to provide guidance on the most effective damming solution for any given situation.

Typical Applications

Temporary dams, because of their versatility can be used for many applications in a variety of aquatic environments including; waterways, rivers, canals & locks, streams, channels, culverts, irrigation ditches, lakes, lochs, ponds, moats and harbours. The list below is by no means exhaustive and we welcome customers asking if we can help solve their particular problems.
