New CaddyMax Jet/CCTV Unit introduced to Yorkshire Water engineers
Under leaden skies at Yorkshire Water's Knostrop WwTW in Leeds, Mark Rabjohn, OnSite’s Operations Manager from our Worksop Depot, introduced YW engineers to OnSite's new and compact VW CaddyMax combined Jetting/CCTV unit.
The unit has been purpose built to provide a Jetting and CCTV solution for YW to assist them in their pro-active approach to the problems arising as a result of DG5 Flooding – Other Causes.
Because much of the work will take place in densely populated urban areas, the compact footprint of the new CaddyMax Unit will help to reduce the impact these essential works will have on residents and traffic.
Using a sophisticated planning tool called "DG5 Predictor”, YW engineers are able to identify specific 500m x 500m OS map quadrants that give them particular cause for concern based upon constantly updated sewer operational feedback data.
Once a specific quadrant in the South East region of YW has been identified, YW engineers will issue sewer record plans for that location to OnSite and the CaddyMax team will be mobilised with instructions to lift covers and inspect drains using the robust and weatherproof Pearpoint P330 pushrod system carried on board.
If a service condition problem is identified, which may, if not attended to give rise to a flooding event, the CaddyMax crew will take the necessary action to improve the service condition of the drain/sewer using the Hydro 3035 Mini high pressure water jetting machine installed in the vehicle. The Hydro 3035 Mini operates at 3000psi @ 8 gals/min (200bar @ 35.7 litres/min) and has 120m of HP hose with a selection of nozzles. The 210 litre water tank provides sufficient water for small diameter drain/sewer cleansing applications, especially when “trickle fed” from an adjacent hydrant.
YW's aim going forward is to significantly reduce DG5 flooding incidents by finding and fixing problems before they manifest themselves as a property flooding event.
