Overview
Question: What do replacing a penstock, walking through a culverted watercourse, installing a portable cofferdam, surveying a brick sewer and excavating a caisson all have in common?
Answer: They all require specialist training.
This is what OnSite provides – and more.
From commencement of employment with OnSite, training starts – following a thorough induction on day one, within the first 6 months all our site staff are trained as a minimum in the following:
- First Aid
- Manual handling
- Confined spaces
- NRSWA
Other specialist training such as Working With Breathing Apparatus, Water Safety Rescue Techniques or Off-Road Driving, is provided by either our experienced and qualified in-house trainers or by approved training providers.
In addition, all our management team from supervisors to departmental managers reach the IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) "Managing Safely" standard.
Keeping skills up to date
Many of the specialist qualifications attained by our staff expire after a given period, requiring refresher courses or retraining to bring their skills in line with the most recent best practices. Keeping track of these requirements can be quite a challenge.
Our IT department has therefore developed a comprehensive training database, providing the facility to schedule courses, access certificates and update records at the touch of a button. This system allows our operations managers to allocate the right persons to the correct task and manage future potential training requirements and budgets.
